Report: 27-1375 - “Boltbreaker Union”

Though officially a Labor Union in the eyes of the populace, the ‘Boltbreakers’ have engaged in a series of riots and strikes as a response to more hands-on guidance from our Most Esteemed Leadership. On paper they welcome refugees of “all walks of life” which has resulted in a higher populace of greenskin, ogor and… other, than in any other city of Azyr. Believing that they are owed the city as their gargant workers of ages past constructed the citadel that holds Eklysium, this ‘Union’ has become a violent collective of criminals. Led by a gargant, of all things, this kin of Behemat has no doubt spurned his smaller, greener underlings into their baser and more violent tendencies. Arrests have been made towards the more aggressive members with the Boltbreakers publicly disavowing ties to them. This leads to a more troubling truth: the discreteness of their methods of rebelling; propaganda, coordination, the distribution of makeshift weaponry (Spears made from iron-wrought fence posts, shields of reinforced doors, sharpened rail-spikes as daggers). Uncanny still is their ability to smuggle entire supply lines through restricted parts of the city.

Our peacekeeping forces had hoped this rebellion would die down quickly, as orruk-kind tend to vent their violent tendencies quickly. But this has not been the case. From what little we have gathered from their communications, they have planned for months on single events, piercing through like an assassin with a scalpel but with the ferocity of an ogor with a Cudgel. After each demonstration they disappear quickly after with little ties to their Union. Our concern is that this violent mob could form into something worse and cause the eye of Azyr to gaze upon the streets of our home. We’ve been open to utilizing the kin of Gorkamorka to build our fine city, but if this continues we will need to re-evaluate our stance and rid Eklysium of this issue once and for all.

Enclosed within this file is a dossier of their ringleader: Foreman ‘Strong’ Junnrik, an in internal Union report on the organization’s relationships, a study on their recruitment tactics and their Propaganda Leaflet, normally plastered onto walls but ‘defaced’ with additional information.

Any further inquiries and evidence may be submitted to the Valeguard records department for further scrutiny.

Foreman ‘Strong’ Junnrik

A Mason Gargant through and through, Junnrik himself descends from the very same gargants that constructed the citadel Eklysium rests on. Earning the moniker of ‘Strong’ after he hauled the construction materials for an entire Manor in a single trip, Junnrik has risen through the ranks, eventually becoming a foreman of construction. Ever the one for a hard day’s work, Junnrik was one of the first to raise arms against the invaders, tossing a slab of stone towards Mogrek after he saw the beast charging towards a group of civilians. Barely surviving the recompense of a tower falling upon him, Junnrik ensured precious seconds were given to the fleeing citizens. Now leading the militia, the gargant finds himself writing over decades-old blueprints to make escape routes, traps and supply lines throughout the city they built with their bare hands.

Relations

Work in Eklysium was never easy but the least of the problems were from the actual labor. After a group of orruk workers became too excited during a mining expedition and carved a hole through the mountains, mistrust of the ‘Kin of Gorkamorka’ began to show its face and cause friction in the field. Some of the city officials even began to spread rumors about the destructive races out of ignorance or an attempt to damage the Union’s influence over the workforce. Rigidity grew even further with whispers of The March of Thunder arriving. During a parley with a scout, any pretense of comradery or kinship were shattered when the March made their intentions known: their image of home lay in the ruins of others. Swearing to fight ‘toof-and-nail’ to protect their family and homes from would-be conquerors, tyrants or greedy despots.

This sense of duty and companionship has endured even after the arrival of Mogrek. Finding themselves among the remains of buildings and tired of waiting for help that may never arrive, the Boltbreakers took it upon themselves to fashion weapons from the rubble and take to the streets in defence of the homes they worked so hard to build. Now a formidable militia, the Union has claimed sections of the cities for their own and buildings once housing businesses have been reinforced into veritable fortresses. WIth spears fashioned from iron-wrought fences, shields from reinforced doors and years of pent up aggression from the frustrations of being a worker, the Boltbreaker Union aims to let all contenders know that what they have is not to be taken without a damn good fight!
